At Skin Theory, we take a healthy approach to skin. For most clients we use a synergy of curated topicals that are carefully orchestrated into routines and treatments. Skin Theory hand-selects the latest in effective, healthy-for-you, results-driven skincare designed to address different problem skin conditions and age-related concerns.

At Skin Theory we avoid the following: formaldehyde, paraformaldehyde, Methylene glycol, Quaternium 15, Mercury, Dibutyl and diethylhexyl phthalates, Isobutyl and isopropyl paragons, The long-chain per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances known as PFAS, M- and o-phenylenediamine, coal tar, DEA, Sodium laureth sulfate and triclosan.

We get asked often about other "toxic” ingredients. There is a lot of controversy with ingredients in skincare. Just because you can’t pronounce a word doesn’t make it bad. And some ingredients are only harmful in high concentrations and when ingested.

What we have leaned is no two people are alike in their unique circumstances. When working with our clientele, we have to consider more than most.. To quote Roman philosopher Titus Lucretius Carus “What is food for one man may be bitter poison to others.” For many clients, avoiding plant-based ingredients is essential to helping them clear as the salicylates, natural pesticides plants produce that fend off bugs, aggravate their skin as does high concentrations of essential oils. What may be healthy for one client, may not be healthy for another. If we were purely plant-based we would not be able to help a large majority of our clients. We hope this helps you understand our theory.
